Golden Finance reported that Hivemapper, a cryptocurrency-enabled mapping startup, raised $18 million in a round of financing led by Multicoin Capital, with the founders of Solana, former Apple Maps executives and Helium’s CEO also participating. According to Hivemapper CEO Ariel Seidman, the funds will be used to support the mainnet launch of Hivemapper’s native HONEY token, as well as onboarding more map contributors. In exchange for HONEY tokens, map contributors install specially designed dashboards on their cars and share footage with Hivemapper, which is then used to create maps. (Coindesk)
